Equipment for power plants

Isolation on the gas path, steam-side support for air-cooled condensers, and pressure parts for the boiler.

Power and cogeneration blocks need equipment that can be isolated, inspected and put back without a long outage. Grandeh fabricates that hardware at Aurangabad: duct dampers, boiler pressure parts and steam-side support around air cooled condensers.

Flue-gas isolation

Guillotine and other dampers blank off a duct so a fan, a boiler pass or a downstream unit can be worked on. Sealing, temperature and the flange match to the existing duct are set at the enquiry, not on site. The same fabrication practice covers air and dilution dampers where the gas is hot or erosive — see the damper dispatch inspected by Bureau Veritas before it left the works.

Steam side

Where cooling water is scarce, an air-cooled condenser takes the turbine exhaust. Grandeh’s scope on those projects is the steam-side equipment and the fabrication support around it, coordinated with the condenser layout. Boiler pressure parts for the same stations follow IBR-aligned practice, in carbon steel or the alloy the metal temperature requires.

Exhaust that still has temperature after the boiler or the turbine can feed a waste heat recovery boiler instead of a stack. That is the same idea as on steel and sugar cogeneration: steam from heat the plant already produced.

What to send with an enquiry

  • Duct size, gas temperature and whether the damper is for isolation or modulation
  • Steam pressure and the condenser or header it serves
  • Inspection agency and hold points
  • Drawings of the existing duct or boiler pass, if this is a retrofit
