Fuel handling for solid-fuel boilers

Bagasse, biomass and wood only make steady steam when the fuel arriving at the furnace matches the boiler that was built for it.

Grandeh’s fuel-handling support sits with the boiler, not as a separate catalogue of conveyors. The question we need answered is what solid fuel you fire, how wet it is, and how much steam the plant must hold while that fuel varies.

Fuels we design around

  • Bagasse on sugar mill boilers, including the moisture swing through the season
  • Biomass and wood, as on the 1.5 TPH package boiler dispatched for an AAC block plant in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar
  • Spent wash and slop on distillery boilers, where the fuel also decides how the air heater must be protected

Why it belongs with the boiler

Fuel moisture changes furnace temperature, excess air and the cold-end temperature of the air heater. A boiler sized for dry fuel and then fed wet bagasse will not hold steam. A SCAPH or a different air-heater arrangement is often part of the same decision. Industrial boilers from Grandeh are specified with the fuel, not after it.

What to send with an enquiry

  • Fuel type, moisture and approximate size
  • Steam flow, pressure and whether demand is steady or seasonal
  • Any supplementary fuel
  • Whether you need the boiler only, or the boiler plus air heating and heat recovery
