Pollution control for process plants
Flue-gas cleaning and duct isolation so dust, SOX and NOX paths can be managed and equipment can be taken offline safely.
Plants ask Grandeh for two kinds of pollution-control hardware: equipment that treats the gas, and equipment that isolates a duct so treatment and the boiler can be maintained. Both are fabricated for the gas the plant actually has, not a generic catalogue size.
Gas cleaning
A wet scrubber contacts flue gas with liquid so dust and acid gases have a place to leave the stream. Selection depends on gas flow, temperature, the contaminant and the pressure drop the fan can spare. Share those figures with a duct sketch and we propose the scrubber around them.
Isolation on the same duct
A scrubber, a fan or a boiler pass is only maintainable if the duct can be blanked. Guillotine, louver and butterfly dampers do that job. On a recent steel-plant order, air and dilution dampers for a high-erosion duty were inspected by Bureau Veritas before dispatch — written up in the damper case study.
Where this shows up
- Steel — dilution air, erosion and furnace-gas ducts
- Power — fan and boiler-pass isolation
- Boilers — flue-gas path on package and field-erected units
SOX and NOX control is a system outcome. The scrubber, the damper and the fan have to be specified together. Send the gas analysis with the mechanical envelope.
